Ayushmann Khurrana is one of the most beloved actors of Bollywood. His work being appreciated both by his fans as well as critiques has made him one of the most successful actors of the industry. However Khurrana’s start in the film industry was not so smooth.
Ayushmann made his first public appearance on the reality show MTV Roadies. He then went ahead and established himself as a RJ. Ayushmann made his Bollywood debut with Vicky Donor in 2012. The film was a hit, however the actor’s follow-up projects such as Nautanki Saala!, Bewakoofiyaan, and Hawaizaada didn’t worked at the box office.
Ayushmann who recently appeared on Arbaaz Khan’s talk show, Pinch, talked about getting back to back failures at box office and revealed that he was ready to move back to his home town Chandigarh when his career went through a slump.
On the show, Arbaaz mentioned some negative reviews of Ayushmann Khurrana’s book, Cracking the Code: My Journey in Bollywood, which was released in 2015. Some of the comments pointed out that it was too early Ayushmann’s career for him to write an autobiography.
In response to the criticism, Ayushmann said, “After my first film, I starred in three back-to-back flops. People had written me off, and I was ready to move back to Chandigarh. I was going through a phase where I had time on my hands to write a book, so I wrote it.” He added, “But now I’m at a stage where I don’t have time to write a book, and work is also going well. Nothing was working out at that time. I had to do something to make it work. I had a band, named Ayushmann Bhava; I used to do concerts. I thought even if my films don’t work, I could sing at birthdays, I’d dance, I’d entertain people somehow, I’d write a book. I was thinking of all the things I could do if my films don’t work. You just need to make it work somehow, that’s an artist’s job.”
Ayushmann has now established himself as one of Hindi cinema’s most bankable leading men, with hits such as Badhaai Ho, Andhadhun, and Bala.
