Filmmaker Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune‘, which is an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 sci-fi classic had its official world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. The Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya starrer received an eight-minute standing ovation at the festival.
Oscar-winning director Chloe Zhao who is a member of the festival’s competition jury this year, rushed through the aisles to greet the ‘Dune’ director with a big hug shouting, “fantastic!”
During the festival, lead actor Timothee Chalamet had a couple of press screenings in the morning along with the rest of the star cast. Later the big ensemble stepped out on the red carpet just before the grand unveiling of the film at 7 pm.
While Chalamet, who is heartthrob of Gen Z, gathered the most attention, there was no denying that the star power of the complete cast added another dimension to the event.
Walking the red carpet with Villeneuve and Chalamet were co-stars Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard and Chen Chang.
Produced by Legendary Entertainment and Warner Brothers and is Part 1 of a planned two-chapter franchise starter, ‘Dune’ hits the cinemas in Europe starting September 15 and in the US in theatres and on HBO Max on October 22.
