Prabhas’ latest blockbuster, Kalki 2898 AD, stormed the Indian box office with a massive opening day collection of 93 crores, setting high expectations for its theatrical run. Despite an impressive start, the film experienced a notable drop on its second day, bringing in 56 crores. This decrease of 39.78% marks the highest day 1 to day 2 decline among major Indian cinematic releases.
Kalki 2898 AD’s performance on its second day surpasses even Prabhas’ previous film, Salaar, which saw a 38% drop after its impressive 92 crores opening. Following closely behind is RRR, which debuted with a monumental 134 crores and witnessed a 34% decrease on day 2, collecting 88 crores.
Comparatively, Adipurush started with 89 crores and fell by 30% on its second day to 62 crores, while Baahubali 2: The Conclusion recorded a 25.61% drop, earning 90 crores after a massive 121 crores debut. Notably, KGF Chapter 2 demonstrated the least decline among these giants, with a mere 22% drop from 116 crores on day 1 to 90 crores on day 2.
Despite the day 2 dip, Kalki 2898 AD continues to showcase strong box office performance, maintaining its position among the top Indian openers of all time.
