Phase 4 Lok Sabha Elections: 40.3% Voter Turnout Recorded Across 10 States, Union Territories by 1 pm

The ongoing Lok Sabha elections for 2024 entered their fourth phase today, spanning across 96 constituencies in 10 states and Union Territories. With a total of 1,717 candidates vying for seats, voter participation has been significant, marking a 40.3% turnout by 1 pm across the designated regions.

Key battlegrounds include Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, West Bengal, and Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, this phase also witnesses crucial elections in Srinagar, marking a significant milestone post the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.

Simultaneously, voting is underway for all 175 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh and 28 in Odisha. With over 19 lakh polling officials deployed across 1.92 lakh polling stations, the election process caters to a vast electorate of over 17.70 crore eligible voters.

Renowned figures in the political arena, such as Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav, Union Minister Giriraj Singh, TMC’s Mohua Moitra, AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, former cricketer Yusuf Pathan of TMC, and Andhra Pradesh Congress President YS Sharmila, are among the prominent contenders.

The Lok Sabha elections unfold over seven phases, commencing from April 19 and concluding on June 1. Results are slated for counting on June 4.
